The Bike Project donates free bikes to refugees and people seeking asylum in London and Birmingham.
CAN I RECEIVE A FREE BIKE FROM THE BIKE PROJECT?
We can give a bike to…
- People currently seeking asylum in the UK.
- People who have been granted refugee status (or a positive decision on their asylum claim) in the UK, in the last 2 years.
- Children or dependents of these groups.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR A BIKE?
- If you are currently receiving support from a refugee/asylum support organisation, they may be able to help you apply for a bike.
- If you are not receiving this type of support, you can apply for one at thebikeproject.co.uk/apply – these applications are extremely limited, so you may need to be patient.
- Once you have successfully applied for a bike, you will be added to our waiting list.
- When we have a bike ready for you, we will send you a collection appointment via SMS/Whatsapp message to come to our workshop to collect a bike in-person.
- Please note: we are not able to deliver your bike to your accommodation.
WHAT DO WE GIVE YOU?
- We will provide you with a second-hand refurbished pedal bike (we cannot provide electric bikes).
- You will also receive…
- A helmet
- A set of lights
- A lock
- £5 in cash, towards your travel costs.
