What we do

Be a champion of cycling in your community with Bike Buddies

Do you (or someone you know) love cycling and live in either the Teesside or North/West/East Birmingham area? We are looking for volunteers to help local refugees build their cycling confidence. If you’d like to share your knowledge of quiet and safe cycle routes, green and open spaces, and other useful cycling resources in your neighbourhood, then we need you.

Bike Buddies is a cycling befriending programme run by The Bike Project. It aims to build confidence and knowledge of cycling, reduce isolation, improve well-being, encourage social integration and more independence. Learn more about Bike Buddies.

Meet Lucy and Shadia, who were matched up via Bike Buddies: “Shadia was incredibly warm and chatty, I had a really nice time with her. We cycled around the park and went down a few roads. We went back to the park and tried practicing hand signalling.”

At the moment, we really need more volunteers in Teesside and North/West/East Birmingham. If you are interested, we have upcoming induction events on 27th Jan, 3rd Feb, and 10th Feb (6-8pm). Register your interest now.
