Seven Brand New Drop Off Points in North London

We’re excited to announce a new partnership between The Bike Project, North London Waste Authority (NLWA), and LondonEnergy – bringing seven brand new bike donation drop-off points to North London for the first time.

Residents in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington, and Waltham Forest can now donate bikes at their local Recycling Centres, making it easier than ever to give their old bikes a new purpose.

Until now, our drop-off points have largely been concentrated in South London, making it harder for North Londoners to donate bikes. This collaboration changes that — removing barriers and expanding access to our bike donation network across the city.

These bikes are more than just a way to get around — they’re lifelines. Each bike donated by the public is collected and refurbished at our Deptford workshop by our in-house team of highly skilled mechanics and volunteers. Once ready, the bike is given to a refugee or person seeking asylum, offering them access to education, support services, and community.

With financial allowances as low as £8.86 per week for some, many refugees face tough choices between essentials and transport,” says Lizzie Kenyon, CEO of The Bike Project.

Donating bikes not only prevents waste but also provides refugees with a sustainable means to access education, support services, and community connections, improving their physical and mental health. This partnership will help us reach more refugees, giving them the freedom and independence that a bike offers.

This initiative doesn’t just benefit refugees — it also gives North Londoners a convenient and impactful way to pass on unused bikes. Instead of gathering dust or ending up in landfill, these bikes get a second life — and bring real long-lasting change to someone rebuilding their future.

At LondonEnergy, we’re proud to partner with The Bike Project to reduce waste and give unwanted bikes a new purpose.” said Katie Blowes, Waste Operations Manager at LondonEnergy. “This initiative not only helps the environment but also provides refugees with a valuable means of transport and independence. We encourage everyone to donate their bikes and be part of this positive change.

Every donated bike has the power to transform a life. And now, for people in North London, it’s never been easier to make a difference. We’re proud to be working with NLWA and LondonEnergy to expand our bike donation network — and incredibly grateful to their teams and all seven borough councils for making this possible.
