We can’t promise we cycled the whole way there but The Bike Project has now officially opened its doors at The Old Print Works in Balsall Heath. And to celebrate, we welcomed visitors from across the community, including The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress.
Now in our 6th year, we’ve donated nearly 5000 bikes to refugees and asylum-seekers and on Thursday celebrated our arrival in Birmingham with Sarah, our sparkling new West Midlands Operations Manager, donating the first bike! Yippee!
Our head honcho Jem said: “We’re delighted to be up and running in Birmingham, and we are so grateful for the warm welcome we received at our opening, not to mention the support of the The National Lottery Community Fund, The Social Investment Business and The British Red Cross, who made it all possible. We are looking forward to getting to work helping as many refugees as we can enjoy the unique benefits a bike can bring.”

We’ve set up shop and made plenty of new friends at our new premises at The Old Print Works in Balsall Heath. The Old Print Works is an innovative space with an awesome attitude who are passionate about promoting ‘making, creativity, sustainability and localism’.
Our bike donation sessions in Birmingham will take place every other Thursday afternoon. If you’ve got a bike in Birmingham you’d like to donate, we’d love to hear from you. Why not drop it round and check out our new digs!
