You can choose to volunteer at The Bike Project through numerous pathways, from fundraising, to hosting a drop off point, becoming a Bike Buddy, to even spending time on one of our sites helping out at our donation sessions. Refugees and asylum seekers in the UK are struggling increasingly with poverty, discrimination and choosing between eating a square meal or catching the bus. Our volunteers are vital in helping us to achieve our missing of getting Refugees cycling and supporting them in realising the financial, emotional, and practical benefits of cycling.

Volunteer Retail Assistant- Bikes!
We’re looking for a volunteer to spend a few hours a week with us at our Deptford workshop in London, helping out as a retail assistant and supporting our mission to give bikes a second life.
The role would involve…
- Helping to keep our online store running smoothly
- Welcoming and supporting customers coming in for test rides
- Getting stuck in with general workshop tasks alongside our friendly, passionate team.
No formal customer service experience is required—if you’re enthusiastic, organised, and enjoy working with people, then we would love to hear from you! There’s also the chance to learn basic bike mechanics and build your skills, with plenty of bikes to practice on. Please fill in our volunteer application form below to apply!

Donation sessions volunteers
We host donation sessions in Birmingham and London, where we invite refugees and people seeking asylum to collect their bikes and accessory packs. This is an opportunity to be on site and to help the Operations team deliver the donation session.

Team Volunteering Opportunities
There are many ways in which you and your colleagues (or the entire company) can contribute time, energy, and expertise to support our mission. Why not make a positive impact on the community while fostering a sense of social responsibility and fulfilment within your team?

This could include organising and hosting a drop-off point to collect bikes for refurbishment and donation to refugees, or creating other fundraising opportunities to support our mission.
